How do we improve pedestrian zones?

Location:

Date:
November 2016

Workshop design:
Co-designed a two day workshop with Catherine Guastavino, Daniel Steele, and the Sounds in the City team to improve pedestrian zones projects. Our aim was to also break silos between professionals in the public, private and academic sectors.

The first day, officials from the city of Montréal gave tours of three pedestrian zones that were undergoing major renovations. The second day, a series of soundscape researchers and city employees gave presentations, sound professionals conducted participatory lab demos, and I facilitated afternoon collaborative workshops. The workshops gave employees from the city, urban designers, architects, urban planners, sound professionals, and people from various academic disciplines and professional backgrounds the opportunity to collectively create improvements to three pedestrian zones in Montréal (Fleuve Montagne, Rue St. Paul and Rue St. Catherine).
