Concept: Prince of Purple Workshops
We, a trio of multidisciplinary artists and designers made up de Christine Kerrigan, Céline Malépart, and Sandra Viviana Murillo Morales, collaborated with 6-8 year old students from the Barclay primary school on an artistic co-creation project hosted by the Parc-Extension Library in Montreal on March 15 and 21, 2024.

The workshops revolved around the first story, "Prince of Purple," an original story imagined by Christine Kerrigan (in French and English) in which the main character's love and obsession with purple allowed us to explore the themes of colour and diversity, including biodiversity. The story's universe served as a source of inspiration for sensory exploration and creative collaborative with the kids. Our aim was to introduce children to societal and environmental issues in a more playful and entertaining way, while advancing the creation of the first book in the series.

The works produced during the workshop will be used as inspiration for creating the illustrations by Céline Malépart and visuals for the book Prince of Purple. This story is part of the Stories with Colour series, a series of children's books that tackle environmental and societal issues in entertaining and accessible ways.
