Let there be Light!
Sandworm, Wenduine, Belgium (2012)
I wanted to share some images of an architectural installation called Sandworm by Finnish environmental artist and architect Marco Casagrande. The 45 meters long and 10 m wide organic structure was realized on the dunes of the Wenduine coastline, Belgium and was constructed entirely out of willow. Casagrande describes the work as “weak architecture” – a human-made structure that wishes to become part of nature through flexibility and organic presence. Casagrande believes that the built human environment should be a mediator between human nature and nature itself.
I loved the simplicity of the materials and the use of natural light. For more photos and info, you can visit the following URL: https://www.casagrandelaboratory.com/portfolio/sandworm
