Concept: Prince of Purple Workshops
Céline Malépart, Sandra Viviana Murillo Morales, and I—a trio of multidisciplinary artists and designers—collaborated with two classes of 6- to 8-year-old students from Barclay Primary School in Montréal on a social practice art project. Hosted at the Parc-Extension Library on March 15 and 21, 2024, and in partnership with the non-profit L’Hirondelle, our two two-hour workshops included interactive color exercises, lively discussions, and a presentation on Holi, the Indian festival of colors, by guest speakers.
We also read the story "Prince of Purple” (working title for story draft written by Christine Kerrigan) and conducted illustration exercises focused on character development. The story celebrates diversity, including biodiversity in our urban environments.
To stimulate group discussions and foster meaningful interactions with the children, we incorporated original artwork by Sandra Viviana Murillo Morales, photographs by Christine Kerrigan, and illustrations by Céline Malépart. This experience allowed us to inspire and engage with these young minds, creating lasting connections through art!
I was responsible for project initiation, creative development, co-creating workshop content, project management, and communications.
